My name is Jodie Mumuna Gurruwiwi. I am from Galiwinku, Elcho Island.
I enjoy playing basketball and being active in my community. I’m passionate about helping others and learning through hands-on experience.
Research and Community Work – Walking Together Program
As part of the Walking Together project, I help support community health by picking up participants, preparing food, and performing point-of-care health checks. These include recording vital health data and assisting people in understanding their results. Being part of this program helps me connect with people and support their journey toward better health.

Why Research Is Important to Me
I believe research is important because I want to help people. Health research helps us understand what’s really going on in our communities so we can make better choices and live stronger, healthier lives.

Future Goals
I want to keep working in health. I’m still exploring opportunities, but I’m committed to staying involved in work that supports my community’s wellbeing.
